Dufferin Island

Dufferin Island (52˚12'25" 128˚20'25" S side of Seaforth Channel, NW of Bella Bella, part of the Bardswell Group). Frederick Temple Blackwood, 1st Marquess of Dufferin and Ava (1826–1902), was Canada’s third gov gen, 1872–78. Born at Florence, he was appointed a lord-in-waiting to Queen Victoria, wrote a popular book about his northern travels, Letters from High Latitudes, married Harriot Georgina Rowan-Hamilton (see Harriot I) in 1862, and served as undersecretary of state for India...
