Duncan Island (50˚48'51" 127˚33'06" SE of Hurst I, Goletas Channel, N shore of Vancouver I). William Duncan (1832–1918) was arguably BC’s most famous missionary. He was an English leather salesman who was trained by the Church Missionary Society but not ordained as an Anglican clergyman, then sent via Victoria to Ft Simpson on the N BC coast in 1857.
