Erskine Point (48˚51'00" 123˚34'00" SW of Booth Bay, W side of Saltspring I, Gulf Is). Named about 1859 by RN hydrographer Capt George Richards for Rear Adm John Elphinstone Erskine (1806–87), who at that time was second-in-command of the Channel squadron. He had served as senior officer on the Australia Station in 1848, then commanded HMS Monarch and Orion during the Crimean War.
