Esperanza

Esperanza (49˚52'00" 126˚44'00" N side of Hecate Channel, SW of Tahsis), Esperanza Inlet (49˚49'00" 126˚56'00" NW side of Nootka I, W side of Vancouver I). In 1778, Capt James Cook gave the name Hope Bay to the large opening between Estevan Point and Cape Cook (he called the cape Woody Point); his “hope” was that there might be a good harbour there.
