Fernyhough Point (53˚07'00" 129˚25'00" E side of Campania I, between Pitt I and Princess Royal I). Pilot Officer Walter Fernyhough, a member of RCAF No 432 Squadron, was killed in action on June 29, 1944, aged 21. He was born at Clyde, Alberta, but was living in Victoria at the time he enlisted. Fernyhough was awarded the DFC after flying more than 30 bombing sorties, in which he “invariably displayed the utmost fortitude, courage and devotion to duty.” He is buried at Creil Communal...
