Finnerty Islands

Finnerty Islands (49˚30'00" 124˚24'00" Off NW side of Lasqueti I, Str of Georgia). In 1945 the hydrographic service successfully submitted Finnerty and Fegan as names for geographical features in this area. The intention was to honour Capt Edward Stephen Fogarty Fegen, who was awarded the VC in 1940 for his actions aboard HMS Jervis Bay (see Fegen Its). Unfortunately, the names submitted were in error.
