Frederick Island


Frederick Island (53˚56'00" 133˚11'00" W side of Graham I, QCI). After Frederick Ingraham, nephew of Boston fur trader Joseph Ingraham of the Hope (see Ingraham Bay). Ingraham actually gave the name Young Frederick’s I to Hippa I (qv), farther S, in 1791 or ’92. In 1793, Capt George Vancouver changed that name back to Hippa and transferred Frederick’s name to this feature, which was known to the Haida as Siscwai. D
