Friendly Cove


Friendly Cove (49˚36'00" 126˚37'00" SE end of Nootka I, W side of Vancouver I). Capt James Cook was the first European to reach this historic spot, in Apr 1778, calling it “a very snug harbour” with a large village. It was named in 1786 by James Strange, the British E India Co factor in charge of the second fur-trading expedition to reach the PNW coast, whose officers made a survey of the harbour.
