Garden Island (54˚19'00" 130˚23'00" Between Digby I and Tsimpsean Peninsula, just outside Prince Rupert Hbr). The island was named for its appearance. It was formerly a Tsimshian First Nation reserve, then owned by the GTP, then by the city of Prince Rupert, which used it as the community’s first cemetery about 1908–13. The name is an old one and may date back well into the 19th century.
