Gay Passage


Gay Passage (50˚06'00" 127˚31'00" Entrance to Ououkinsh Inlet, Bunsby Is, off NW side of Vancouver I). Walter Gay is a character in Dombey and Son, an 1848 novel by Charles Dickens. Capt George Richards, who surveyed the area in 1862, named several features after aspects of this novel, including the Bunsby Is and Cuttle Is (qv). Gay Passage, though, was named much later by Capt John Walbran of the Dept of Marine and Fisheries, who examined the area in 1897. W
