Germania Rock


Germania Rock (52˚07'00" 131˚00'00" W of Rainy I, off E Kunghit I, QCI). The Germania was a 147-tonne whaler that operated in QCI waters in the early 1900s. Built at Oslo, Norway, about 1903 by the Aker shipbuilding company, the 28.5-m steamship was originally employed in the Nfld whaling industry. It was purchased by the Pacific Whaling Co about 1907 and worked out of Rose Hbr, Naden Hbr and Sechart whaling stations until at least 1914. Germania Ck on Graham I is also named for this vessel....
