Gossip Island

Gossip Island (48˚53'00" 123˚19'00" Off SE side of Galiano I, Gulf Is), Gossip Shoals (48˚53'00" 123˚18'00" SE side of Gossip I). In a 1960 newspaper article, the Vancouver Sun suggested that Gossip I, surrounded as it was by promontories named after women (Mary Anne Point, Georgina Point, Helen Point, Edith Point), owed its name to the “sardonic humour” of certain anonymous mariners.
