Gow Island (52˚06'00" 128˚17'00" N of Piddington I, Queens Sd, just SW of Bella Bella). Cdr Francis Robert William Roberts Gow, a native of NS who had moved to Victoria, was killed off Nfld in an air accident on Nov 8, 1942, aged 43. He was based at the RCN’s Halifax shore establishment, HMCS Stadacona, and had served as an intelligence officer at Esquimalt, 1935–38. He is commemorated on the Halifax Memorial.
