Granite Bay


Granite Bay (50˚14'00" 125˚19'00" SE of Kanish Bay, W side of Quadra I), Granite Point (50˚17'00" 125˚23'00" NW tip of Quadra I). Granite Bay was the site of a major railway-logging camp for BC Mills Timber & Trading Co from about 1890 to 1925. “Old Curly,” an ancient CPR steam engine now on view at Burnaby Heritage Village, was used there. A group of Finns settled at the bay, and a small community grew up, complete with hotel, store, post office, school, brothel and steamship landing....
