Greaves Island

Greaves Island (51˚18'00" 127˚30'00" In Smith Sd, N of Port Hardy). Richard Greaves (d 1868) of Ripon, Yorkshire, was the grandfather of Anne Walbran, wife of author and master mariner John Walbran. Capt Walbran had a long career on the BC coast with the federal Dept of Marine and Fisheries, and named this feature in 1903 while making a preliminary survey of the area in the government lighthouse tender Quadra.
