Gross Point


Gross Point (49˚57'15" 127˚13'45" S of entrance to Kyuquot Channel, NW side of Vancouver I). Flight Lt Douglas Haig Gross, who enlisted in the RCAF at Vancouver, was killed in action Aug 18, 1944, aged 28, while serving with RAF No 184 Squadron. The squadron was equipped with Hawker Typhoon fighter-bombers and provided support for the Normandy invasion, attacking radar and communication sites and other specific ground targets.
