Haans Islet (53˚02'00" 131˚41'00" Off N side of Cumshewa Inlet, QCI). John George Haan (1871–1940), a native of Germany, was an experienced sealing skipper, 1896–1907, master of the Labrador, Zilla May, Jessie and, primarily, the Umbrina. He married Jane Miller Hall (1877–1971) at Victoria in 1902.
