Hansen Island

Hansen Island (49˚12'30" 125˚51'45" In Lemmens Inlet, Meares I, Clayoquot Sd, W side of Vancouver I). Brothers Anton (c 1878–1971) and John Hansen were Norwegian fishermen who became early settlers and long-time residents in the Tofino area. Many of their descendants still live in the district. Anton arrived in Clayoquot Sd about 1909. John was a boatbuilder and later served as mayor of Tofino, 1944–50.
