Hanson Island

Hanson Island (50˚34'00" 126˚44'00" W of Harbledown I, W end of Johnstone Str). Lt James Hanson, born at London, England, served under Lt William Brougham aboard HMS Chatham, the armed tender that accompanied Capt George Vancouver on his historic voyage to the PNW. In 1792, Vancouver appointed him cdr of the Daedalus, a storeship that resupplied Vancouver at Nootka. (The ship’s original cdr, Lt Richard Hergest, had been murdered in Hawaii.)
