Hayes Rock

Hayes Rock (51˚07'00" 127˚42'00" SE of Cape Caution, NW end of Queen Charlotte Str). Pte George Edward Hayes of Vancouver was killed in action Oct 22, 1944, aged 19, in Italy. He was serving with the Loyal Edmonton Regiment of the Royal Canadian Infantry Corps and is buried in Italy’s Cesena War Cemetery. Hayes was mentioned in dispatches and also received the Silver Star, a US award for valour.
