Hegan Point


Hegan Point (54˚04'00" 130˚06'00" NE entrance to Telegraph Passage, mouth of the Skeena R). Sub-Lt George Vincent Hegan served on the BC coast, 1875–78, aboard HMS Daring, under Cdr John Hanmer. In 1877, when the CPR was searching for a W coast terminus for its transcontinental railway, the officers of the Daring surveyed the entrance to the Skeena R. Hegan served as flag lt to the cdr-in-chief at Malta in 1879, and in 1893, with the rank of lt cdr, he was in charge of the training brig...
