Hepburn Point (53˚32'00" 129˚36'00" E side of Grenville Channel, at entrance to Lowe Inlet, E of Pitt I). James Hepburn (1811–69), born in Scotland, moved to Kent, England, and was trained as a lawyer. A taste for adventure and scientific pursuit led him to N America, where he became a resident of San Francisco (and a substantial property owner), and eventually to Victoria, where he lived for a number of years. Named by Lt Daniel Pender in 1868.
