Hocking Point

Hocking Point (49˚05'00" 124˚50'00" W side of Alberni Inlet, NE of Barkley Sd, S-central Vancouver I). Norman Penrose Hocking (1876–1956) was born at Swansea, Wales, and went to sea at the age of 15 on the windjammer Templetown. Before arriving in Canada in 1912, he had served aboard Boer War troopships and commanded vessels for the E India Co and the Burma-based Irrawaddy Flotilla Co, and in the China coastal trade. In BC he established a launch service at Deep Cove before fighting in WWI...
