Hospital Point (48˚56'00" 123˚43'00" W entrance to Chemainus Bay, SE side of Vancouver I), Hospital Rock (NW end of Chemainus Bay). Chemainus Hospital was the earliest medical centre in the region, opening its doors in 1900 after a typhoid outbreak the previous year. Until 1911, when Ladysmith built a facility, it was the only hospital between Nanaimo and Victoria.
