Isabel Point


Isabel Point (52˚08'00" 128˚19'00" SW side of Horsfall I, just W of Bella Bella). Capt John Walbran, of CGS Quadra, named this feature in 1902 after Isabella Matilda Geddes (1875–1966), the wife of Methodist medical missionary Dr Richard Whitfield Large (1873–1920). They were married at Vancouver in 1899. Dr Large established a hospital at Bella Bella in 1902 and became the first permanent physician on the central coast.
