Kilmington Point


Kilmington Point (52˚52'00" 131˚49'00" SW tip of Louise I, E of Moresby I, QCI). Kilmington, Somerset, was the birthplace in 1824 of famed Canadian geologist Alfred R C Selwyn. The point was named by the hydrographic service in association with Selwyn Inlet (qv), just to the S, which in turn had been named by geologist George Mercer Dawson in 1878. Kilmington Point first appeared on charts in 1927.
