Knapp Island (48˚41'57" 123˚23'58" SE of Piers I, off NE tip of Saanich Peninsula, N of Victoria). Kempster Malcolm Knapp (d 1875) was an instructor aboard HMS America, under Capt John Gordon, on the Pacific Station, 1845–46. He became an instructor at Portsmouth on the RN cadet training ship Illustrious in 1857 and moved to HMS Britannia in 1859 when that vessel replaced the Illustrious.
