Kye Bay (49˚43'00" 124˚53'00" N side of Cape Lazo, just NE of Comox Hbr, E side of Vancouver I). Several explanations have been proposed for this name. Kye may be a word of unknown meaning from Pentlatch, the Northern Coast Salish language, now extinct, of those who used to live in this vicinity. Then again, it may be the Scottish Gaelic word for cattle, courtesy of an early settler in the area.
