Lagoon Inlet


Lagoon Inlet (52˚56'00" 131˚55'00" Head of Selwyn Inlet, opposite Louise I, E side of Moresby I, QCI). This feature takes its name from the tidal lagoon located at the head of the inlet. Lagoon Bay Cannery was built in 1918 on the S shore of the inlet near the tidal rapids that give access to the lagoon. The plant was operated by the Canadian Fishing Co from 1922 until 1941, when it burned down. The inlet was often referred to incorrectly as Lagoon Bay, after the name of the cannery. D...
