Laing Point


Laing Point (52˚58'45" 132˚06'00" E side of Peel Inlet, Kuper Inlet, NW side of Moresby I, QCI). Scottish shipwright Robert Andrew Laing (1816–82), from St Andrews, was aboard the US schooner Susan Sturgis, one of several vessels that arrived in the QCI in 1852 in unsuccessful pursuit of gold. The ship moved on to the E coast of the QCI, where Chief Albert Edensaw was hired as a pilot, but during an attempt to trade with the Masset Haida, the Sturgis was plundered and burned and its crew...
