Lancaster Reef


Lancaster Reef (51˚49'29" 128˚09'48" W side of Kildidt Sd, S of Bella Bella). In 1944, regional hydrographer Henri Parizeau named a number of coastal features in this vicinity after WWII aircraft. The Avro Lancaster, a four-engine British heavy bomber, primarily designed for night use, became the most famous and successful bomber used in the war, flying 156,000 sorties and dropping more than 550,000 tonnes of explosives.
