Lax Kw’alaams


Lax Kw’alaams (54˚33'24" 130˚26'01" S shore of Port Simpson, NW end of Tsimpsean Peninsula, N of Prince Rupert). This Tsimshian First Nation term meaning “place of wild roses” was the original name given to the settlement that sprang up in 1834 beside Ft Simpson, an important HBC trading post on the N coast of BC.
