Leonide Point


Leonide Point (53˚12'00" 132˚08'00" W side of Renner Passage opposite Maude I, W of Skidegate Inlet, QCI). Lt Daniel Pender named this feature Nose Point in 1866, but the hydrographic service changed it in 1945 because of duplication elsewhere. The Leonide was the sloop that mining engineer Francis Poole chartered in 1863 to take him from Victoria, where he had been briefing officers of the Queen Charlotte Mining Co on his progress, to the QCI.
