Lillooet Passage


Lillooet Passage (51˚59'00" 128˚15'00" N of Simonds Group, Queens Sd, SW of Bella Bella). Named for the Canadian government vessel Lillooet, built by BC Marine Rwys Co (also known as Bullen’s shipyard) in Esquimalt and launched in 1908. The 50-m, 493-tonne Lillooet was the mainstay of the Canadian Hydrographic Service on the Pacific coast until 1932 and saw regular use as a survey ship under hydrographers Philip Musgrave and Henri Parizeau, and skippers Frederick Griffith and J J Moore.
