Lohbrunner Island


Lohbrunner Island (52˚29'00" 128˚44'00" Off N side of Price I, Higgins Passage, NW of Bella Bella). According to records at BC’s Geographical Names Office, the feature was named in 1947 for “Mr Lohbrunner, who made a report to this office on the drying bank westward of the island, Oct 1946.” This cryptic note almost certainly refers to Maxmillan Edmund Lohbrunner (1887–1973), an eccentric Victoria resident who had been to sea in the early 1900s aboard the sealing schooners Diana and...
