Loudoun Channel


Loudoun Channel (48˚56'00" 125˚23'00" W side of Barkley Sd, W side of Vancouver I). The Loudoun was the former name of the Imperial Eagle, the ship that early fur trader Charles Barkley brought to the W coast of Vancouver I in 1787. The 360-tonne, 20-gun vessel was originally owned by the E India Co, and Barkley, a former E India Co capt, took command of it in 1786 for its voyage to the PNW.
