Mabbott Island

Mabbott Island (50˚28'00" 127˚54'00" SW of Koskimo Is, S side of Quatsino Sd, NW end of Vancouver I). Named in 1927 after a man named Mabbott, who was the caretaker of the Quatsino Cannery in the early 1920s. The cannery was built on Koskimo Bay in 1911 by Wallace Fisheries Ltd; later a pilchard reduction plant was added. BC Packers bought the operation in 1928 and closed it down three years later.
