Malacca Passage (54˚06'00" 130˚21'00" Between Porcher I and the Lawyer Is, S of Prince Rupert). HMS Malacca, a 13-gun, 1,595-tonne steam corvette named after a small state on the Malaysian Peninsula, served on the Pacific Station, 1866–68, under Capt Radulphus Oldfield. It was built in Burma in 1853 and then sailed to England to have engines installed before seeing service in the Mediterranean.
