Malcolm Island


Malcolm Island (50˚39'00" 126˚59'00" Off NE side of Vancouver I, opposite Port McNeill), Malcolm Point (50˚40'00" 127˚06'00" NW side of Malcolm I, S of Numas I). Named in 1846 by Cdr George Gordon of HMS Cormorant for Adm Sir Pulteney Malcolm (1768–1838). Malcolm served on several RN stations before being promoted to capt in 1794 and was flag capt to Rear Adm Peter Rainier on HMS Suffolk and Victorious before commanding HMS Renown and then HMS Donegal in the Mediterranean.
