Martin Cove (49˚37'18" 124˚03'40" W side of Francis Peninsula, Pender Hbr, Malaspina Str, NW of Vancouver), Martin Island (49˚38'00" 124˚04'00" Entrance to Pender Hbr). Martin I appears on an Admiralty chart dating from 1863 and is thus an old name. Former BC assistant archivist Madge Wolfenden has suggested that the name possibly honours RN officer Cornwallis Wykeham-Martin (1833–1903), who apparently served on the Pacific Station as a lt aboard HMS Alert in 1859.
