Marvinas Bay


Marvinas Bay (49˚40'00" 126˚37'00" E side of Nootka I, N end of Cook Channel, Nootka Sd, W side of Vancouver I). According to coastal historian Capt John Walbran, Marvinas is a corruption of Mawina or Moweena, the Nuu-chah-nulth term for the bay. The name was adopted by early Spanish and British visitors to Nootka Sd, including Capt James Cook.
