Maurus Channel

Maurus Channel (49˚12'00" 125˚56'00" Between Meares I and Vargas I, just N of Tofino, Clayoquot Sd, W side of Vancouver I). Benedictine priest Maurus Snyder (b 1865), a native of Switzerland, was ordained in 1890. He was part of the original group of Benedictines who founded Mt Angel Abbey in Oregon, and he served as a professor at Mt Angel College, 1890–1900.
