McCreight Point (53˚12'30" 129˚30'00" S end of Pitt I). John Foster McCreight (1827–1913) was the first premier of BC. He was born in Ireland and practised law in Australia before immigrating to BC in 1860. In 1871 he was one of 25 members elected to BC’s first provincial legislature and was appointed premier and attorney gen by Lt Gov Joseph Trutch.
