McKenney Islands (52˚39'00" 129˚29'00" W of Moore Is, off W side of Aristazabal I, Hecate Str). Cpl John McKenney (1830–97) was a member of the Columbia detachment of Royal Engineers, which served in BC 1858–63. He was an Irishman whose love of liquor apparently caused him to appear eight times in the regimental defaulters’ book and be court-martialled twice. McKenney came out with his wife, who was the sister of fellow sapper James Lindsay, and stayed on when the detachment disbanded....
