Mermaid Bay


Mermaid Bay (50˚24'00" 125˚12'00" S side of Dent I, Cordero Channel, off NE Sonora I, N of Campbell R). Named in 1955 for the tugboat Mermaid, which used to anchor in this bay. This historic 28-m steam sidewheeler was built in Victoria in the mid-1880s for Burrard Inlet’s Hastings Sawmill Co. Capt E C Bridgeman was an early skipper.
