Mermaid Cove (49˚46'45" 124˚11'30" W of Saltery Bay, N side of Jervis Inlet near its mouth, E of Powell R). A 3-m-tall bronze mermaid was placed here in 20 m of water as an attraction for divers in 1989. Known as the Emerald Princess, Canada’s first underwater statue was created by Saltspring I sculptor Simon Morris. A second, identical 270-kg casting was installed on Sunset Reef at Grand Cayman in the W Indies in 2000. The name was adopted in 1990.
