Merritt Lagoon

Merritt Lagoon (51˚56'25" 128˚02'20" E of Kildidt Lagoon, Hunter I, S of Bella Bella), Mount Merritt (51˚58'58" 128˚02'28" NE of Kildidt Lagoon). Lt Col Charles Cecil Ingersoll Merritt, VC (1908–2000), was born at Vancouver and educated at Royal Military College, Kingston, Ont. In private life he was a lawyer. He was awarded the VC—the second received by a Canadian soldier during WWII—for gallantry and leadership while commanding the S Saskatchewan Regiment during the disastrous 1942...
