Mesachie Nose

Mesachie Nose (52˚20'35" 127˚09'45" N side of Burke Channel, S entrance to Labouchere Channel, W of Bella Coola). Mesachie means “wicked” or “bad” in Chinook jargon, the pidgin language used on the W coast by First Nation groups and early traders and settlers. When a SW wind is blowing, the Nose is apparently a bad place to be, as an unpleasant backwash can form off its precipitous cliff.
