Mitchell Cove


Mitchell Cove (53˚22'00" 129˚28'00" Payne Channel, SE end of Pitt I). Named in 1950 for RCAF flight lt Charles George Mitchell (b 1912), who was killed in action on Mar 8, 1945. He was born at Lloydminster, Alberta, educated at Vermilion School of Agriculture and later lived at Victoria. Mitchell served with No 35 (RAF) Squadron, which flew Halifax and Lancaster bombers over Germany and Italy, and was awarded the DFC for displaying “the utmost fortitude, courage and devotion to duty”...
