Montserrat Bay (52˚06'00" 130˚59'00" SW of the Rainy Is, off NE side of Kunghit I, QCI). The ore carrier Montserrat, under Capt David Blackburn, foundered off the entrance to Juan de Fuca Str during the great gale of Dec 1894 while attempting to assist the coal freighter Keeweenah. The stoutly built, 68-m vessel, constructed in England in 1881 for the California copper trade, had been chartered by Blackburn as a coal freighter.
